How to Join an Activity

To attend a weekly activity contact the office on 4255 8000 or 1300 797 443 (cost of local call), ask for Recreation Illawarra and we will organise a time to meet with you before you attend.

Each year participants and a family member/carer/guardian are required to attend a registration session before commencing programs.

How to Apply for Other Services

To register your school for the BlueScope Steel School Sports Ready OR enquire about training courses contact the office on 4255 8000 and ask for Recreation Illawarra.

A yearly program booklet and individual program flyers are available. Contact the office on 42 55 8000 or 1300 797 443 (cost of local call).

Fees

You will have to pay a once a year registration fee of $20.00 and each activity has a weekly fee. See activities below.

School Sports Ready

This program is a sporting skill development program for primary schools and special schools with support units and people with a disability. The program aims to provide children with the basic skills in a variety of sports in a supported and fun environment. Two trained instructors from Recreation Illawarra travel to your school with equipment and focus on developing specific sporting skill, teamwork skills, the understanding of rules, game strategy, social interaction and sporting etiquette for the students. The current cost of the program is $8.00 \ child \ term (8 weeks in a term). Currently only offered in the Illawarra area. Back To Activities List


Art & Craft

This program provides children, teenagers and adults the opportunity to make a variety of art and craft projects including mosaics, ceramics, wood work, painting and many other interesting projects in a social environment.
Venue: Blackbutt Youth Centre, Cygnet Ave, Blackbutt
Day: Every second Saturday
Time: 10am to 12 noon
Cost: Session payment $75.00(5 weeks) OR $15.00 per week (places are limited)

Basketball – Jammers

This program offers weekly basketball training, competition and mainstream inclusion competition opportunities for all ages. Trained coaches and support staff are on hand to provide an exciting and fun basketball program that caters for your individual age and experience level.
Venue: Snakepit Wollongong and sometimes Illawarra Sports High School - Berkeley
Day: Sunday
Time: 9.30am to 11am – Junior Jammers
10.00am to 12noon – Senior Jammers
Cost: $8.00 ( juniors) $10.00 (seniors)

Drama – Altogether Drama

This program provides drama classes for all ages wanting to learn and enjoy the art of acting on stage, performing dance and improving self confidence. The group provides classes to experienced, beginners and children with opportunities to perform throughout the year.
Venue: Wollongong Youth Centre
Day: Saturday
Time: 9am – 10am – Beginners & Intermediate
10am - 11.30am - Dance/Drama

10.15am – 12.15pm - Experienced
Cost: $7.00 per week (Beginners and Intermediate), $8.00 per week (Dance Drama) and $10.00 per week (Experienced)

Gym

This program is offered to all ages and provides support for participants to use the facilities of a gym in a fun, safe and structured environment. Includes the popular Extreme Tuesday Challenge once a month.
Venue: Lakeside Leisure Centre

Indoor Cricket – Sharks

This program is conducted in conjunction with Shellharbour Indoor Sports and provides opportunities for people of all ages to learn to play indoor cricket in a fun and supported environment with social and competitive choices
Venue: Shellharbour Indoor Sports
Thursday Afternoon
5.00pm - 6.15pm (Junior)
5.00pm - 7.30pm (Senior)
Cost: $7.00 (Juniors) and $10.00 (Seniors)

Tennis

This program is provided for all ages and participants learn the skills of tennis with a variety of fun games to apply the skills. Ace Challenge is offered once a month for competition opportunities.
Venue: Beaton Park Tennis Centre

Disability Education Training

Recreation Illawarra are the regional providers of the Australian Sports Commission’s Disability Education Program. Experienced presenters offer general and tailored modules for sporting associations, clubs, teachers, coaches, administrators, volunteers, officials and community members. The modules focus on disability awareness, inclusion skills, training techniques and factors that need to be considered when including people with a disability.

Shoalhaven

Basketball - Jammers

This program offers a weekly basketball training session. Trained coaches and support staff are on hand to provide an exciting and fun basketball program.
Venue: Shoalhaven Basketball Stadium, 85 Cambewarra Road, Bomaderry.
Day: Monday
Time: 4pm to 6pm
Cost: $8.00

Fit n Fun - Bay & Basin

This program is conducted in conjunction with the Bay & Basin Leisure Centre. It offers opportunity and support for participants to use the facilities of the gym through a fun fitness group. A swim and spa is optional at the end of the program.
Venue: Bay & Basin Leisure Centre, The Wool Rd, Vincentia
Day: Wednesday
Time: 4.30pm to 5.30pm (gym group) 5.30pm to 6.00pm (swim/spa)
Cost: $7.00 (gym), $5.00 extra (swim/spa)

This program is conducted in conjunction with the Ulladulla Leisure Centre. It offers opportunity and support for participants to use the facilities of the gym through a fun fitness group.

Each year the service conducts an annual camp. This year the camp will be held on 14, 15, 16 September 2007 at the Berry Sport and Recreation Camp. Participants who currently attend weekly programs are eligible to attend. For more information contact the office on 4255 8000.
