Jarrah and Post School Options

A service of the Disability Trust providing individualised support to people with a disability in the Illawarra region of NSW.

Jarrah offers you a caring and educational service to help you set and achieve your own goals. We will help you to go out in the community, communicate with others and learn skills to get a job or to become more independent. Jarrah is based in its own building, however you will spend at least 50% of your time in the community. In order to make sure that you get what you want out of the service, we work in small groups and everyone gets the opportunity to work one to one with our staff.

What are our Aims?

• to provide you with individualised support
• to help you make your own choices and decisions
• to help you develop the skills you need to participate in daily life and to get a job
• to provide the community with information and encouragement to allow them to support us in achieving our aims

When is Jarrah Open?

You can organise to come to Jarrah on the days that suit you. We are open Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm.

Who can come to Jarrah?

If you have a disability and are eligible for individualised funding, we can provide you with a service. We currently support people with Post School Options and ATLAS funding. If you do not currently have funding but are interested in our service, we may be able to help you get appropriate funding.

What will it cost?

Your funding will cover the main costs of coming to Jarrah. the only cost to you will be for the activities you do like swimming or craft.

How do I get to Jarrah?

If you can catch a bus or train, you can get help learning which ones to catch. We are close to public transport. If you live at home and need to be picked up, you can talk to us about this.

Who works at Jarrah?

While at Jarrah you get help and support from our staff. All of our staff receive training so that they can help you with things you need. You will be able to choose one person to be your keyworker who will help you set goals and make decisions.

Jarrah has been working with people with medium to high support needs since 1997. We have experience in all aspects of day programmes and will work closely with you to develop a programme that suits your needs.

Jarrah is a division of the Illawarra Disability Trust, which has been supporting people with a disability in the Illawarra for over 25 years.
