Day Programs

Our Day Programs cater for adults with intellectual disabilities, providing activities, support and developmental training.

The Disability Trust runs four Day Programs conducted at Jarrah in Dapto, Foothills Day Centre in Balgownie, Goulburn Day Program in Blackshaw Road and Moruya Day Program in Haslingden House.

Jarrah’s activities have a strong focus on community participation and independent living skills training. Participants typically spend 3-5 days each week at Jarrah, involved in life skills development activities such as cooking, shopping and communication. There are also regular day trips for activities that are appropriate to the individual’s level of disability, including swimming and horse-riding.

The Foothills Day Centre caters for people with very high support needs. Most of the clients are in wheelchairs and the centre provides additional support for their medical and complex care needs.

The Goulburn Day Program is attended by a large number of clients over 55 year of age and activities are designed around a focus on active ageing. There is a strong emphasis on therapeutic programs, so many of the activities are recreation-based. The centre also focuses on community participation, integration and communications development.

The Moruya Day Program builds capacity for individuals with a disability to participate in community life. At our Haslingden House facility clients select a range of programs and community based activities of their choice.
