Registered Training Organisation

The Disability Trust (TDT) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) trading as Illawarra Disability Trust RTO - No. 91809. The RTO application was approved in March 2011. Included on the RTO scope are:

  • Certificate 111 Disability
  • Certificate IV Disability
  • Certificate 111 Home & Community Care

Costs include:

Internal employees (eligible for a Traineeship)
Certificate 111 - $436 (enrolment fee)
Certificate IV - $436(enrolment fee)

Internal employees (not eligible for a Traineeship)
Certificate 111 - $436 (enrolment fee) + $500 course fee
Certificate IV - $436(enrolment fee) + $500 course fee

External Organisation/persons costs include:

Eligible for a Traineeship
Certificate 111 - $440 (enrolment fee)
Certificate IV - $440 (enrolment fee)

Not eligible for a Traineeship
Certificate 111 - $440 (enrolment fee) + $1260course fee
Certificate IV - $440(enrolment fee) + $1500 course fee

Traineeships/Apprenticeships:

TDT is also on the State Training Services (STS) Approved Providers list for Traineeships as of February 2012.

Training:

Certificate 111 – 16 days face to face (weekly), set tasks/assignments and workplace based assessment.

Certificate IV – 17 days face to face (weekly), set tasks/assignments and workplace based assessment.

Non – accredited training – including short workshops (Professional Boundaries, Documentation, Duty of Care, Communication, Personal Care (Basic), Basic Physical Needs (Bowel, Bladder and Spinal Care) Epilepsy and Midazolam) plus all day workshops on Infection Control, Medication Awareness and Gastrostomy available for external participants/organisations which can be contextualised for each organisations requirements.

Training and Assessment:

All training and assessment for accredited training is delivered by individuals who have the required education and vocational qualifications including Certificate IV Training and Assessment (which are being updated to the required Certificate IV TAE if required). Trainers and assessors have numerous qualifications and many years experience in the Disability, Aged care and Community Service Sectors.

Availability:

Accredited courses are provided for internal employees, external organisations and individual participants not employed by The Disability Trust. Additional accredited courses will be added to the scope at a later date. Accredited Courses/workshops will be run in accordance with demand at scheduled times.

Location:

The Disability Trust's Head office is in Jardine Street Fairy Meadow. It has a number of training rooms located including the Head office in Fairy Meadow as well as other TDT offices in Shellharbour, Mittagong, Goulburn, Warrawong, Bateman's Bay and Bega.

Learning Management System (LMS)

TDT is in the process of installing Moodle as its on-line LMS. Non – accredited courses will be available on-line in the near future. Information regarding course costs and availability will be provided soon.

Additional Information:

The Disability Trust is in the unique position of providing services and training that are disability specific. Services are provided to clients with a multitude of disabilities including physical, intellectual, developmental, sensory, autism, congenital, ABI/TBI, mental health issues etc. Training can be specifically contextualised for these disabilities or for other areas e.g. aged care.
