At The Disability Trust, we understand that sometimes carers of people with a disability need care too.

Our Flexible Respite programs are designed to provide short-term care and activities for people with disabilities, so that their full-time carers (usually close family members such as parents) can take a much-needed break. While care is normally planned we also provide emergency respite.

Flexible Respite Options offers a range of services including in-home and centre-based care, recreational activities, day centre services and holiday respite. Packages are available throughout the Illawarra, South Coast, Southern Highlands and Metropolitan South Sydney.

Parents and carers are eligible to apply for a Flexible Respite Package, specifically targeted at people with high physical support needs or challenging behaviours and at older carers aged over 60.

The Disability Trust operates fully-staffed respite and holiday homes at Sanctuary Point, Bowral, Bargo and Dapto that provide opportunities for people with disabilities to have out-of-home respite breaks.

Some of the respite homes are also available for holiday rental for families of people with disabilities.
