Peter joined The Disability Trust Board in August 2021. As the primary carer for his eldest son who has a disability, he has first-hand experience of the issues faced by unpaid carers and a deep understanding of the challenges involved in navigating the NDIS.
In addition to his carers experience of disability, Peter brings extensive personal knowledge of both the private and public sectors. He has held high-level positions at Shell Australia, National Australia Bank, NRMA, Acxiom, Callista Software Services, the National Disability Insurance Agency and Bendigo Bank. He was a strategic advisor with Accenture specialising in the disability, aged care and health sectors. Peter has served as President of Carers Australia and Chair of Yooralla.
Peter has a PhD in Agricultural Science and a Graduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance, He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has completed the National Disability Services training “Right on Board: Governing and Managing for Human Rights, Quality and Safeguarding”.
Peter brings strategic insights and operational experience to The Disability Trust, as well as empathy and a commitment to supporting individuals, families and communities, especially those who are disadvantaged or vulnerable, either as recipients of services or as carers.
