Ian graduated from the University of Wollongong with a Masters in Social Policy and has worked in the human services field for nearly 40 years. After working for organisations such as large church based charities and a range of community based services he began a career in local government as Youth Services Co-ordinator with Campbelltown City Council and later was employed by Wollongong City Council as Manager of the Community and Cultural Services division. Ian’s portfolio grew to form the Community, Cultural and Library Services Division employing over 140 staff and managing more than 60 community buildings and services such as community transport, day respite, volunteer recruitment and training, and youth services. He was also involved in social planning and development activities which included community and cultural planning/development, research, training, community safety initiatives, and programs for a range of community groups. Ian moved from local government into the field of aged care as the Executive Manager Community Services with Warrigal overseeing in-home services and independent living units located in the Illawarra and Southern Highlands regions, and the strategic planning process. In late 2015 Ian was appointed as the Executive Leader Service Innovation and Development and was responsible for ensuring a new service delivery model was fully implemented at Warrigal’s newest development in Shell Cove.
Upon his retirement, Ian joined The Disability Trust Board in 2018 and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
