Ian has worked in the human services field for nearly 40 years. After working for organisations such as large church based charities and a range of community based services he began a career in local government as youth services co-ordinator with Campbelltown City Council in 1990. In 1994 Ian was employed by Wollongong City Council, and in 1996 he was appointed manager of the Community and Cultural Services division. In 2007 Council’s Library division was added to Ian’s management portfolio. The newly formed Community, Cultural and Library Services division employed over 140 staff and managed more than 60 community buildings, libraries, as well as services such as community transport, day respite, volunteer recruitment and training, and youth services. The division was also involved in social planning and development activities which included community and cultural planning/development, research, training, community safety initiatives, and programs for a range of community groups.
In early 2008 Ian moved from local government into the field of aged care as the Executive Manager Community Services with Warrigal. In late 2015 Ian was appointed as the Executive Leader Service Innovation and Development and was responsible for ensuring a new service delivery model was fully implemented at Warrigal’s newest development in Shell Cove.
