The Disability Trust Club Trust Kids and Teens programs have quickly grown to 19 participants operating two afternoons a week. Due to the interest of different age groups, we have now separated the group in two, and have a 7 to 12 year old group called Club Trust Kids and a 12-17 year old group called Club Trust Teens.
Club Trust is tailored towards the kids and teens first of all having fun with their peers while at the same time achieving goals such as learning and practising social skills within a group setting, making new friends and developing communication skills.
We are now working on a play that will be performed at the end of the year called Jungle Circus. It has been so interesting watching everyone choose which animal they would like to be and how they have interpreted how each animal sounds and moves.
The kids and teens are learning fun songs with keyword signing and this enables participants who actively use signing as their form of communication.
Outings have included a visit to a Yurt Farm located just outside of Goulburn where the participants were able to do some gold panning and pat the animals and help collect eggs. Outings have also included bowling, swimming, putt putt golf and the dinosaur museum.
As the NDIS rollout broadens, we are receiving more and more requests to attend this great program and we are sure it will continue to grow. For more information phone 4824 1600.
