How long have you been working for The Disability Trust? I have been here for 6 years starting as a Disability Support Worker in Day Options and now with great support and mentorship I have progressed into a Management role. Still in Day Options 😊
What have you been up to over the last few months? My day job keeps me very busy, managing teams, preparing school leavers for commencing services for 2020, and additional work on our internal Emergency Planning Committee. As a member of the Dapto Rural Fire Brigade, it made sense to be a part of that committee and as a result we transformed into an Emergency Response Team and successfully maintained the safety of participants and staff during the recent bushfire emergency across our multiple regions. So it has been a ridiculously busy summer, but fulfilling and I’m really proud of the great job we’ve done.
What have been the highlights for you over the last three months? The biggest takeaway for me was the way that the emergency brought our teams closer together and that we were able to support teams who were physically hours away but we worked together as if they were in the same room.
What does the rest of 2020 look like for you? We’re looking to continue to build our services and plan for more successful outcomes from the Emergency Planning Committee given the current climate state. And a holiday would be lovely too!
