Robyn has worked at The Trust for approximately 20 years and has had various roles over that period. She started as a Direct Care Worker going into client’s homes to assist them with their activities of daily living. Robyn then worked in our Day Options Programs and our Respite Centre in Dapto on a part time basis, which quickly turned into full time work at the Respite Centre. Robyn then moved into our Head Office at Jardine Street Fairy Meadow working with a specific client.
Before departing on her last day Robyn answered the following questions around her time working at The Trust.
What has been the best thing about working for The Disability Trust?
First and foremost The Disability Trust focusses on the client’s needs and provides a supportive and non- judgemental environment that focuses on employees and clients strengths and individual differences. The organisation also provides comfortable and pleasant amenities for their workers and their clients. There has always a can do attitude where everyone pulls together particularly in an emergency situation and services are provided to ensure clients’ needs were met.
What do you look back on as being the achievement that you are most proud of?
Providing as much respite as possible for our clients and having a good rapport with both clients and their families. I am also proud of the way I have maintained the Respite Property at Parkside and ensured that it was always clean and tidy and a comfortable pleasant home for our clients to stay.
What will you miss the most about working at The Disability Trust?
I will miss the work and my clients and families and the wonderful people who continue to support them.
What are you looking forward to in your retirement?
I am looking forward to being able to spend time with friends, work on my fitness, follow up on some hobbies and spend some quality time with my family.
