Roll of Honour

Our Roll of Honour was awarded to two excellent representatives of Wests Illawarra in recognition of their contribution across the years to the Wests Illawarra Gala Night, Daniel Munk and Trevor Castle.

Daniel Munk is the Chief Executive Officer of Aster Group comprising of Wests Illawarra and Port Kembla Golf Club. Making a difference is close to Danny’s heart with the strong connection that Wests Illawarra holds in the Community with a number of charities.

Since becoming CEO of Wests in 2015 Danny has ensured the continued success of The Disability Trust Gala Night. Danny’s leadership has seen The Disability Trust Gala Night and our KidsFund charity raise in excess of $400,000 since 2015.

Trevor Castle is the Chairman of the Aster Group where he has held this position since 2001. Trevor is  committed to our community and has been a long term supporter of The Disability Trust’s Gala Night when it was called the Bandaged Bear Benefit Night. Trevor was instrumental in the night continuing after it moved from its early days at the Fraternity Club.

Both Trevor and Danny have rallied local cubs to support the night and the generosity of the clubs was recently acknowledged at our 20th Anniversary.

Wests Illawarra Gala Night (previously known as Wests Illawarra Bandage Bear Benefit Night), has been occuring since 1999 and this year we celebrated 20 years! Gala Night at Wests Illawarra is managed with volunteers from our community and Disability Trust staff members and is always a highlight on the events calendar for those lucky enough to get an invite and attend.

Gala Night is a fun filled evening in a spectacular room targeted to businesses with opportunities for networking and of course supporting a fantastic charity. The annual event at Wests Illawarra has raised over $1.4M over this time and is the major fundraising event for The Disability Trust’s Kids Fund. Funds from the event have also assisted in the purchase of land for our current project of building a respite house for children in the Illawarra.

The Disability Trust is extremely proud to partner with Wests Illawarra. Without the support of Wests Illawarra, local clubs and businesses, Kids Fund could not exist to support positive changes in the lives of local children.
