Robyn Augustson, the mother of one of The Disability Trust’s longest residents was celebrated with a party in her honour at the Illawarra Yacht club on the 27th April.
Robyn’s daughter Cindy Augustson moved into one of our first group homes at Bellevue Rd back in 1988.
Cindy’s mother Robyn has always been an extremely strong advocate for her daughter and for The Disability Trust. Manager of Accommodation Services at the Trust Lanie Jones has enjoyed a great relationship with both Cindy and Robyn for more than 29 years. Lanie described how dedicated Robyn has been and why she wanted to arrange the surprise celebration.
“As Robyn ages, I know how important it is for her to have Cindy safe and secure and in accommodation that is supportive to her changing needs. Robyn has been one of my strongest mentors and teachers over the years. For her as a parent to entrust us with her daughter is a real privilege. She has helped guide and train so many Trust staff over the years, not just on how to support Cindy but also on supporting all those that have lived with Cindy. That’s why I organised her surprise party. She is one amazing woman!”
