The Disability Trust supports WeThe15. Do you?

As memories of the Tokyo Paralympics fade we thought it would be a good time to reflect on the campaign launched during the opening ceremony: Wethe15.

Wethe15 is a global human rights movement for the 15% of the world’s population with disabilities. That’s 1.2 billion people.

The movement was founded by a coalition of organisations from sport, human rights, policy, communications, business, arts and entertainment who have united to change attitudes and create more opportunities for persons with disabilities, as well as improve mobility and accessibility.

The Disability Trust is proud to support the principles of the WeThe15 campaign, which plans to initiate change over the next decade through a global movement publicly campaigning for disability visibility, inclusion and accessibility. It will build greater knowledge of the barriers and discrimination people with disabilities face on a daily basis at all levels of society.

The Disability Trust encourages you to join the campaign to break down these barriers so all people with disabilities can fulfil their potential and be active and visible members of an inclusive society.

Many of the actions listed on the WeThe15 website for individuals and organisations will be familiar to you. It is likely that these are things that you practice every day, but it’s always good to reflect on what we do well and identify anything we can do better.

The WeThe15 campaign also provides a great opportunity to start conversation in the wider community, and help to bring about lasting change in the lives of people with disabilities.
