Wow, 12 months have passed, and what a 12 months it has been.
The Plant Room Cafe opened its doors in September and what a joy it has been watching our supported employees faces, as they arrive to work each day. Seeing their excitement at being a valuable part of the café, was, and still is the most uplifting part of our day.
The team all settled in together, creating a wonderful vibe for all at The Disability Trust Head Office and DXC, and all many other visitors.
COVID-19 did mean having to rethink on how we did business and with the support of our Managers we were able to reinvent how we operated by providing groceries and pre cooked meals for our group homes when shopping was made difficult. We wanted to protect our clients and staff so they could avoid the shops and making their nightly meals, 7 days a week!
As operations went back to normal we have retained our take home meals and made them available to the whole community. We shared our information on the highly popular Facebook group Illawarra Menus, and our own Facebook page and have proved to be a hit, with our home made lasagnes, chilli con carne, Goulash and family sized pies & quiches, and we now have regular customers that come in weekly to stock up on our goodies!
We would like to shout out a huge thank you to all our wonderful customers who have supported us through the changes, helping us to continue to operate, making us stronger and providing a wonderful place for our supported employees to be proud of.
"For me personally, I love coming to work and my team make a wonderful, positive difference to my life, every day. So a big thank you to you all - You guys are wonderful!," said Mandy the Cafe Supervisor.
