At The Disability Trust there is nothing more important to us than ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our participants and staff. In response to the recent NSW COVID lockdowns announced on the weekend we took immediate steps to makes changes to our day program and group activities in the affected areas of Wollongong, Shellharbour and Greater Sydney.
Since Saturday our senior management team have been liaising with the Department of Health and have clarified the essential nature of these services for many of our clients and families. As a result we can advise that given our COVID Safety Plans, our strict risk management protocols and exceptional staff training and preparedness The Disability Trust will continue with some group programs across this lockdown period.
The new Delta Variant of COVID-19 is particularly contagious and program changes will allow us to thoroughly review our risk management plans in regards to this current situation.
We understand that some people may choose to stay at home across this lockdown period. We are staying in touch with participants and families to discuss how, where and when our programs will continue. We will all need to work together to ensure adherence to the health guidelines such as use of PPE (eg. mask wearing), limiting non-essential community access and observing physical distancing. It is also absolutely essential that everyone stays home and gets tested if they are feeling sick, and following health guidelines if you are a close contact. We also strongly encourage everyone to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
Please don’t hesitate to contact your local service manager or supervisor if you have questions or concerns.
