It’s now more than 12 months since WorkAbility client Cameron started his dream job at the Sapphire Coast Nursery, thanks to the help and support of WorkAbility Employment Consultant Leanne.
“When I first met Cameron, he told me about his love of the outdoors and how he would like to work with plants. Linking Cameron up with a nursery seemed like a good option for him,” Leanne said.
“I met with nursery owners Ray and Toni Hills who had only just taken over Sapphire Coast Nursery at Nethercote. This is a family run business. After Toni, Ray and their son Michael met Cameron and his mum Rachael, they decided to give Cameron a go.”
Nursery owner Toni Hills has been delighted with Cameron’s progress since he started at the business, as she explained.
“We have seen so many benefits employing Cameron. Not only is he an extra pair of hands to help out, it allows us to focus on other essential tasks that we previously didn’t have the time to do.”
Cameron does a variety of tasks including propagation, tubing, weeding and ordering stock. His attention to detail is much appreciated.
“Cameron is very particular when prepping the plants to sell” said Toni, “they are presented to the highest standard.”
Employment Consultant Leanne is really pleased to see Cameron doing so well.
“It’s great to see Cameron build his independence and skills in his role,” said Leanne, “and great to collaborate with such an inclusive and supportive employer.”
Cameron’s mum Rachael couldn’t be happier.
“It has been a perfect for fit for all,” she said, “Cam has thrived with the support of WorkAbility.”
