Marc worked as a Machine Operator for 18 years before being made redundant in 2016. Keen to return to work, Marc contacted Workskills for assistance in obtaining employment.
At first Marc found it difficult due to his limited physical abilities, but he was undeterred, and expressed interest in finding a new role as a bus or truck driver. With support from Workskills and lots of hard work, Marc obtained his Heavy Rigid (truck) licence, updated his forklift licence and embarked on course in Logistics and Transport.
When Marc applied for an advertised position with Havenlee, Workskills supported him through the process, which included writing a resume, covering letter and completing the online training required for the position.
Following a successful application, Marc was offered the position on a casual basis, and Workskills began to forge a relationship with his employer.
Now Marc has been working there for over two years, and he really enjoys the working environment, supporting students with transport to and from school. Marc loves the job and finds he is able to manage the role very well. He feels really supported by his employer and his team mates.
That’s not the end of the story. Workskills has maintained such a great working relationship with Marc’s employer that he has now employed two other clients and continues to contact Workskills with any other upcoming roles.
