Making Friends, Social Groups and Outings

The Disability Trust offers a range of great programs and supports to promote friendships and connections with peers the same age with similar interests.

Participants can choose between a range of community and centre based peer support activities.

The focus is on fun, friendships and variety.

Groups include:

Teen Time

Teen Time provides After School and Vacation programs for participants still at school

Leisure Link

Leisure Link provides support for people with disabilities of all ages to create a healthy and balanced lifestyle involving weekend camps and regular weekly sporting or recreational activities. We aim to foster the interests and individual goals of a participant which will then contribute to their
sense of “self”.

Getaway Saturday

Getaway Saturday is a fun, activity and recreational program for participants over the age of 12.

Finally its Friday Social Club

On the first Friday of each month we meet at different location for a fun night out which gives participants an opportunity to meet and make new friends in a supportive environment.

Mischief Makers Drama Program

This is a program designed to help children explore their creative side. It is a great opportunity for those participants of a young age who have an interest in performing on stage and it’s a great pathway to our other Drama Groups.

Adult Drama Groups

We currently have a number of drama groups in South Eastern Sydney and the Illawarra. These groups give an opportunity for participants to perform on stage.

Sunday Funday

This group meets on the first three Sundays of each month in various locations across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions. It’s a great opportunity to meet new friends in a fun and safe environment.

Ragers

‘Ragers’ is a group based community access option for those who are over 18 years of age. This program aims to allow our participants to increase their social and community participation, improve skill development and confidence in a group. It is one of our more popular programs with activities such as live football matches, karaoke, stage performances, bowling and dinners.

Sunday Adventures

This group meets on the fourth Sunday of each month in various locations across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven and is a great opportunity to meet new friends in a fun and safe environment. Participants who access this program are generally over 40 years of age.

Boys Night Out

Once a month on a Friday night participants get together and go out to various location in the Illawarra for dinner and try different fun activities. It’s a great opportunity for anyone over 18 who wants to make new social connections in a supportive environment whilst having lots of fun.
