Develop your skills to achieve your goal to live independently. The transition to live independently is a big step for everyone. Learning to be safe and healthy, do things for yourself and build relationships with people in the community are all part of the process.
The Disability Trust’s Independent Living Skills Program helps you learn the skills required to live independently in the community. Under the guidance of experienced staff, our program is run at one of our Centre Based Facilities. Together in a group setting we will cover aspects of daily living such as:
• Looking after your home
• Staying safe at home, in the community and online
• Menu planning and cooking
• Grocery shopping
• Budgeting and money skills
• Healthy living and healthy eating
• Personal care and presentation
• Local transport options
• Developing healthy relationships
This program is ideal for people who want to transition from being supported by family or carers, to living independently in the community. The program also provides an opportunity for participants to make new social connections and develop friendships.
Let us help you to achieve your goal to live independently!
